Why embed it

Free prayer times widget for your mosque website

Most mosque websites still list prayer times as a static image or a PDF that someone forgets to update. A calculated widget never goes stale: it recomputes Fajr through Isha for every day of the year, for your exact coordinates, in your timezone, and highlights the next prayer with a live countdown so visitors instantly know how long they have.

You pick the calculation method your community follows — ISNA and the Muslim World League through Umm Al-Qura, Dubai, Karachi, and the Moonsighting Committee — plus standard or Hanafi Asr. The widget renders inside an isolated shadow container, so your site's fonts and styles cannot break it and it cannot break them. There is nothing to maintain: no feeds to refresh, no API key to renew, no account.

It is a quiet fit anywhere: a mosque's homepage sidebar, an Islamic school's footer, a Ramadan landing page, a community newsletter archived as HTML. Paste the tag once and forget it.

Installation

How to add it to your site

Configure the widget above, copy the embed code, and paste it where the widget should appear. The steps differ slightly by platform.

WordPress

  1. Open the page or post in the editor.
  2. Add a Custom HTML block where you want the widget.
  3. Paste the embed code into the block.
  4. Click Preview to check it, then Update or Publish.
  5. WordPress strips script tags out of normal paragraph text, so always use the Custom HTML block — or a header/footer plugin such as WPCode for a site-wide placement.

Wix

  1. Open your site in the Wix Editor.
  2. Click + (Add Elements), choose Embed Code, then Embed a Widget.
  3. Paste the embed code into the code field and click Apply.
  4. Drag the box to position it; the widget fills the box width.
  5. Save and publish your site.

Squarespace

  1. Open the page and click Edit.
  2. Click an insert point and add a Code block.
  3. Paste the embed code into the block.
  4. Make sure Display Source is off, then click Apply.
  5. Save the page. JavaScript in a Code Block needs the Core plan or above.

Google Sites

  1. Open your site at sites.google.com and select the page.
  2. Click Insert in the right-hand panel, then Embed.
  3. Choose the Embed code tab and paste the snippet.
  4. Click Next, check the preview, then Insert.
  5. Click Publish in the top right.

Shopify

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Open the page you want, click Add section, then search Custom Liquid.
  3. Paste the embed code into the Liquid box.
  4. Click Save.
  5. The page editor's own HTML mode can strip script tags, so use the Custom Liquid section instead.

  1. Copy the embed code from the configurator above.
  2. Open your HTML file where your site's files live.
  3. Paste the snippet at the exact spot the widget should render.
  4. Save and upload the file. For the fastest loads, place it just before </body>.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free?

Yes. The widgets are free forever, with no API key, no signup, and no ads. The embed code includes a small credit link to Niyat, written as plain HTML so it works even without JavaScript. You can remove it if you prefer.

Does it track my visitors?

No. The widgets load no analytics, set no cookies, and collect no data about your visitors. The prayer times widget downloads one small calculation library from niyatapp.com and then does all of its math in your visitor's browser.

Will it slow down my site?

No. Add the async attribute and the script loads in the background without blocking your page. The prayer times widget is a few kilobytes, and the calculation library it uses is fetched once and cached by the browser. The Hijri date and Ramadan countdown widgets make no network requests at all.

Can I show my mosque's jamaat (iqama) times instead of calculated times?

Not yet through the widget itself, which shows calculated prayer times. Email us your mosque's jamaat times and we will add them to your page in the Niyat mosque directory.

Does it work on WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace?

Yes. Any platform that accepts a custom HTML or embed block can host the widget: WordPress Custom HTML blocks, Wix custom embeds, Squarespace code blocks, Google Sites embeds, a Shopify Custom Liquid section, or plain HTML. See the step-by-step guides above.

How is this different from other prayer times widgets?

Most embeddable prayer-time widgets are an iframe, or need an account before they give you an embed code. This one renders in a shadow DOM, so your site's CSS cannot break it and it cannot break your site's CSS, and there is no account to create. See the full comparison.
